Gallery
Welcome to my gallery. Here you’ll find a selection of my work. Explore my artworks to learn more about what I do.
My Own Collection
These are paintings that I have painted but I am reluctant to part with. They may have been hanging in my own home for some time and I have become really attached to them.
This happens because all of the artwork I create, I must first and foremost be inspired or moved to create them. Usually they are of people that I have admired and grown up with as a kid.
If you see anything in this gallery that you'd like to own please get in touch and I would consider parting with them to go to a good home.

Sketch Book Content
Recently I have started a sketch book. Every now and again I populate this sketch book with my own works and copies of old masters. I do take requests as to what customers want me to draw on my Facebook page, Angus Paton Art. Please feel free to make a request and I will draw your chosen subject matter.
Hope you enjoy the content..

Pencil Drawings
Although I now paint, my background for a long time was doing pencil artwork. I love the black and white finish on these works and they look great on any coloured wall. They have a modern and contemporary feel to them.
Paintings
Oil Paintings
As an artist I am inspired by the human portrait and figure. I am drawn to their unmatched power to evoke an emotional response.
I work in oils as they provide the greatest variety of visual and textural effects and the richest colour of any single medium. Their slow drying characteristics allow me to continually experiment with techniques to create the illusion of depth and three-dimentionality.
I like to create art which reflects the complex and changing world of today while respecting the rich tradition of the past.
Being self taught, I have enjoyed the various challenges that each and every painting has presented, which has allowed me to grow and develop as an artist.

Work in Progress
Here you will find artworks that are now ready for painting. My normal process is to do a detailed drawing of the painting in charcoal or graphite pencil. Some would consider this a type of grisaille. This is use to work out tonal value and form prior to applying paint.
I will revisit these works and complete them. Once complete I will upload the artworks for sale.
